Men's Basketball Rodney Landers

Week 2: Men 's Basketball

During week two of the men's basketball season, they played St. Pius X and Grain Valley at home.

St. Pius X Game 

            On Monday, 12/14/20, our Hornets played St. Pius X. Coming into the game the Warriors were 3-2 and Northtown was off to a hot start at 2-0. In the first half Northtown had great ball movement and shot the ball well, at half the score was 27-15 with Hornets leading. In the second half Northtown defended the ball well, causing several turnovers and picked up the pace, playing faster and better than the first half. The final score was 55-43 with Northtown moving their record to 3-0.  Athuai Ding shot 8/15 from the field and led the Hornets in scoring. 

How do you think you guys played as a team? 

            "I feel like we played pretty solid for our second game of the year we can always get better but as long as we get the win that's all that matters." - Malik Johnson.

           
            "Definitely wasn't our best game we didn't play that well as a team but we pulled through at the end and got the dub as a team." – Jack Hanson

           

            "I think we played good as a team, we just got to make sure we hustle back on defense."- Iverson Neal
 

Grain Valley Game          

            On Wednesday, 12/16/20, the Hornets played the Grain Valley Eagles. The Eagles were playing their second game of the year, and came in 1-0. In the first half the Northtown moved the ball well, and made the Eagles take tough shots. Malik Johnson had a highlight play by dunking on a defender. In the first half the score was 27-19 with the Hornets winning by 8. In the second half, the Eagles woke up and they played good defense, but this Hornet offense is hard to slow down. Jack Hanson had a mean dunk in the 3rd quarter. Malik Johnson was the leader scorer of this game going 10/19 and scoring 26 points. The final score was 51-36, Hornets moving their record 4-0.

             "It was a fun game we had a lot of dunks and we played hard and closed out the game really well."- Malik Johnson

             "I felt like if we had stopped their big man more, we would have had a bigger lead than we had."- Iverson Neal

             "I feel like we played better and played better as a team but still have a lot more to work on and we can get a lot better." - Jack Hanson
