The boys won a great game against Truman with the final score being 77-69. It was a hard-fought battle all game, up until the end when time was running out. Needing to make a change quickly, Truman had to start fouling the Northtown guards, sending them to the free throw line and helping us go 17/22 in the fourth quarter; significantly separating the Hornets from the competition. Assistant coach, Cooper Bahiya gave us insight on what to expect in the future, "We found a way to pull yet another win, in quest of our own identity on a season full of high expectations."

Leading up to the game, the Hornets were the team to beat with a 3-0 record ranking them #3 in the Metro. Truman was unranked coming into the matchup. The North Kansas City Hornets were favored to win but the Truman Patriots still played tough, coming to battle hard against the Hornets. The game started with a huge run by the Patriots to get up 9-0 in the first half, but the Hornets stayed poised and didn't let that get to their heads. Starting shooting guard,
Xavius Kirkwood, had notable feelings about obtaining the lead, "I felt like we needed to come together and play more as a team, and we needed to talk more about what we needed to do to stop them from scoring." They obviously did because the Hornets went on a run to gain the lead and used that momentum throughout the game to take home the win for the North Kansas City Hornets.
