2021 Baseball Preview

It's that time of year again. The freshly-cut grass, the sun's shining on the diamond, and the Northtown Hornets baseball team is ready to take the field. Led by senior Nick Ward, juniors Layne Johnson, Wesley McFarland, Diamond Cooper and Kevin Pelico, and an influx of underclass talent, this team is looking to move into the next stage of greatness.

Are you excited about this season? If so why?

"Yeah, I'm extremely excited for this season. I think we have a good shot at going far in post season with the team we have this year"- Bobby Super

"Man, I'm super excited about the season. Junior year is a big year for athletes in my opinion. I'm excited because with all the covid stuff going on and it's taking away my sophomore season I'm just ready for high school baseball. It's going to be a fun season so I'm ready" – Robert Grado

"I am excited for this season because I live for the game and playing with this team makes it that much better"-Dayton Horn

With tryouts starting March 1st, the varsity squad has been practicing in the mornings to make sure they have the edge needed to be a top program in the city. They will need to be ready as they had to move into a powerhouse conference that includes Staley and Park Hill South. But, don't count the Hornets out of anything. They bring the mentality, speed, and strength to compete at every level needed to succeed. If you are interested in joining the team, show up to Macken Park after school on March 1st, or contact Head Coach Bubba Dotson for more information. .

Do you recommend anybody to come out to try out?

"I would, it's a good experience for people, you just have to dedicate yourself to it for a bit there's a lot to it."- Bobby Super

"Oh, for sure. It feels good to be able to help new kids out since I'm very comfortable with the game and play at a high level during high school and summer ball."-Robert Grado

"I do recommend coming try out and become a part of the great family we got on the team"- Dayton Horn

This season is looking like it will make up for all of last year, while forging a new path for this year. Expect a ton of runs, highlight plays, and wins for the Northtown Hornets baseball team!
