This past weekend, the NKC women's tennis team traveled to Winnetonka, for the annual Winnetonka Invitational.
Â
The Women's tennis comes into the tournament looking strong as a team. The team is headed by
Sydney Fuger, a freshman who sits at 11-0 in her high school career. Winning her matches by a score of 8 to 0. She couldn't seem to be slowed down in A singles. She is now on a 14-game win streak beating all opponents 8 to 0, for a total score of 112 to 0. She took first in a singles play.
Â
However, there is no I in team.
Adele Merchant won her first match with a score of 8 to 0 as well as winning her second match with a score of 8 to 4. But sadly, she would fall in her third and final match with a score of 1 to 8 taking second place in B singles.
Â
Cora Skaggs and Ester Ko competed in the A doubles winning their first match with a score of 8 to 4. However, they unfortunately fall in their second and third match taking fourth place in A doubles.
Â
Lastly
Katreena Dinh and
Lilly Gerend competed in B doubles winning their first match with a score of 8 to 1, as well as winning their second match with a score of 8 to 1. However, their momentum would falter, and they would fall in their last match with a score of 3 to 8 taking second place in B doubles.
Â
With all these performances, the NKC women's tennis team was able to take first place in the tournament!
