This week, the Hornets football squad travels up the road to take on conference rival, St. Joe Central.
Â
After week 1, both teams sit at 0-1. NKC took a crushing loss at the hands of #18 Raytown, whereas Central took a 61-21 beating at the hands of #35 Fort Osage.
Â
Both teams have made the necessary adjustments to get in the win column. The new-look Hornet's offense has had another week of repetitions to get more adjusted to the system, as well as a newfound chip on their shoulder, after last week's loss.
Â
St. Joe Central is not known for their football program. Over the last 3 seasons, they have a combined 3-37 record, however, they are not to be taken lightly. With a roster overhaul from last season, as well as playing one of the hardest schedules in the state (6 top 25 schools in 8 games) results aren't to be expected immediately.
Â
All eyes will be on transfer quarterback,
JJ Johnson to avenge a mediocre performance where he was unable to get a touchdown through the air. As well as the towering defensive line, led by
Domonique Orange, and
Edric Hill to rebound from a game in which they got in the backfield the least of any game in the last 2 seasons.
Â
Every team has games like last week, it's as much a part of the game as anything else, however, being able to rebound from losses is a true testament of the character of the team, and the Hornets expect nothing less.
