The North Kansas City Hornets are buzzing with excitement as they kick off the season with a 3-1 record, an impressive turnaround from last season's disappointing 2-8 record. From a new coaching staff under Coach Dan Joiner and a revamped running game, hopes are high for the remainder of the season.
In the last outing your Hornets took down St. Joe Central in a dominant 36-10 win highlighted by the strong run game. Senior running back
Donnell Jamison led the way with 178 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, one of them coming as a huge 65-yard run in the 3rd quarter. Sophomore running back
Kobe Rhymes added 3 big rushing touchdowns of his own to round out the win on Friday. Quarterback Stephen Thomas gives credit to the new coaching staff, "You saw what happened tonight, [that] can happen all year", adding that the coaches are making big things happen for the team moving forward.
This week's match up sees the Hornets on the road at Kearney High School taking on the 4-0 Bulldogs. This will be a tough but important game, with one player stating it could be a "shoot-out", the team's performance will be a good gauge for how they stack up against the rest of their scheduled opponents. To those attending, the game will be played at the Kearney District Stadium, and to those who cannot attend but still want to watch, tune in on the N2 Live! NKCHS YouTube channel.Â
