Northtown's Men's Golf is here. And leading the way for domination is junior Captain
Joe Winfrey.
Winfrey has some big goals for this season, and he isn't afraid to put it all on the line to achieve it. "My goal is to score under 108 on a par 76, 18-hole course and do well at districts." Winfrey has been practicing every day, battling through a sprained wrist, all to get through the season and cement his place in the record books.
When asked about one myth about golf he said, "One myth about golf is that it's easy. Oh my god, it's one of the hardest sports fundamentally, mentally, and physically. It is so difficult to master." He has been golfing for his entire high school career and has been getting better every year. "It's very, very hard but you have to know you will do good on the next hole. You just have to keep your head up and love yourself no matter how you do." This is the mentality golfers must have in order to succeed.
Coach
Jeff Lasswell when asked about Winfrey said, "he is excited for this season. He expects to see lots of growth from Joe, and look forward to seeing Winfrey help mentor the younger players."
Winfrey is on his way up. He will be using the talent and hard work accumulated over the last 2 years. He'll need it all to meet his goals of dominating every match and tournament he plays in.
