The North Kansas City Hornets Volleyball team is off to a great start this season, defeating Oak Park, 3-1. This competitive conference rivalry game kicked off the season and moves the Lady Hornets to 1-0.

The Lady Hornets opened the game quickly, taking the lead on the first set. Setter,
Madelyn Ottis, is a dangerous player, with her dump kills, lead the team to win the first set, 25-19.

From there, the excitement of the crowd only continued to grow, bringing back the Lady Hornets and helped to maintain their momentum. Insane kills from
Kylee Estes and
Calissa Minatee helped the Hornets to take the second set away from the Lady Oakies, 25-19.

With both teams determined to win, the third set had both teams back-to-back. With the Hornets down most of the third set, libero, Katie Nguyen was able to reset the momentum with her serves. But this was not enough for the Lady Hornets to take the third set, giving the third set to the Oakies 24-26.

This did not stop the Lady Hornets from coming back on top and sweeping the Lady Oakies off their feet. The final set from Maddie Ottis and big hit from
Chagai Gong, brought the Lady Hornets to end the fourth set, 25-19, winning the game against Oak Park.

Chagai Gong is "feeling really good" saying, "
the big key of the game was staying disciplined on fundamentals and playing for each other and not just ourselves," that ladies and gentlemen is a true team.
